The Future of Conveyancing: Should you choose a lawyer or a conveyancer?

As you may be aware, recent news stories have highlighted the growing use of electronic conveyancing platform Property Exchange Australia (PEXA) and the need for users of PEXA to have high standards of cyber security.

There have been instances of people losing money in conveyancing transactions due to hackers gaining unauthorised access to conveyancers’ email accounts and changing bank account details. The hackers are stealing this money.

In recent discussions with the NSW Law Society President Doug Humphreys, the NSW Law Society has confirmed that law firms are covered in these situations by their Professional Indemnity Insurance and the Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund. This is a great bonus for our clients as it means if anything goes wrong they will not lose their money.

Moving forward, this offers huge peace of mind, as from July 2019 there will be a compulsory transition of all conveyancing transactions to the PEXA platform. Given that your money is of primary importance to you, using a law firm instead of a conveyancing firm makes perfect sense.

Your funds are safe with us, guaranteed by our legal insurance, and we can offer legal advice if there are any problems with your property.

Currently we are offering a Winter Special of 10% off professional fees for any legal matter which is valid from today until 31 August 2018. Just mention the discount to receive it! And don’t forget we can look after your conveyancing needs Australia-wide, so if you are thinking of moving interstate, we can help you.
